Exactly what the app stores, for how long, and why it asks for each permission.
This page says exactly what the app stores. The short version: nothing that identifies a person, in any of it.
What is stored
From an order that contained an item added from a widget, Somix keeps five values:
- The order’s Shopify id
- Which widget the sale came from
- The amount attributed to it
- The currency
- The date it was created
Shopify’s notification about that order also contains your customer’s name, email address, shipping address and phone number. None of them is stored. They are discarded with the rest of the message once those five values are taken, and no field capable of identifying a person exists in our database.
Widget counts
Impressions, clicks and adds to cart are counted in the shopper’s browser and sent as totals. They carry no cookie, no identifier, and nothing that distinguishes one shopper from another.
How long it is kept
Attribution records are deleted automatically after 180 days. What remains is a daily total per widget — a count and a sum — which cannot be traced back to an order or a person.
When you uninstall, your store’s cached data is deleted immediately and its stored records within 48 hours. You can ask us to erase your data at any time, whether or not the app is still installed.
Requests from your customers
If one of your customers asks what data we hold about them, Shopify passes that request to us and we answer it. In practice the answer is that there is nothing to return, because we store no field that identifies a person. If they ask for erasure, the attributed order records are deleted.
Why the app asks for what it asks for
